| Mix after food coloring is swirled in |
| This is what it looked like after baking for about 9 min |
We added the cooked and cooled pieces to a lined and sprayed cake pan.
Then topped them with the remaining cake batter. We ended up doing 3 layers for this cake and using another cake mix to get enough stuff for the third layer. (we also needed a little bit to fill the second cake pan)
After the cake was cooled we made buttercream frosting and put it all together. The flowers are actually mini marshmallows that Shelby cut on a diagonal and placed in a ziploc bag with colored sugar. (the sugar only sticks to the cut part) I made the colored sugar using regular granulated sugar and some food coloring. Once we frosted the cake, we took the marshmallows and started at the center and worked out way out to make the flowers. Then I used licorice to make the stems.
Shelby added a deep purple and gold ribbon to the bottom of the cake to complete it.
