Night Showers

Aaron and I were in the family room enjoying a movie on Tuesday night (around 11:15 pm), when I heard the shower go on upstairs. Fearing Bailey had gotten out of bed again and decided to play in the tub, I went upstairs to investigate. It wasn't Bailey, but Shelby in the shower. Here's the conversation we had.

Me: "What are you doing?"
Shelby: "Showering."
Me: "At night?"
Shelby: "It's 6:45 in the morning. Go look at my clock. My alarm went off, so I got up to shower."
Me: "Um, your clock says 11:30."

This reminds me of when Jami did some sleep walking when he was younger. At least Shelby took off her PJs before getting in. :-)

Shelby's Birthday Cake

I made Shelby's birthday cake today and wanted to share pictures of the process.

I took a white cake mix, made it according to the box directions, but separated it into 4 different small bowls. I mixed in various food coloring to make dark purple, lavender, pink and plain white. Then dumped each color into the pans creating a tie dye look.
This is the crumb coat in lavender.
After letting the crumb coat harden, I used the additional frosting to create these swirly flowers.
Then I took small pearls, using tweezers, and inserted them into the center of the swirls. Here is the finished product! Cool, huh??

Fancy Nancy Bailey

Thank you to Grandma Harrison for inviting Bailey to the Fancy Nancy party over at the PG Library. The girls dressed up fancy and got their pictures taken.

Then the girls received crowns, necklaces and rings to get even more fancy.
Then the ate refreshments and listened to the latest Fancy Nancy book, ready by Fancy Nancy's neighbor. How cool is that! Here are some additional pictures from the fancy event!

Joel took this picture and the one at the top. He's taking a photography class at UVU and I think he might have actually learned something. Aren't they awesome pictures???

Shelby's Bow Hair

Shelby saw this on www.pintrest.com and we tried to reproduce it. Not being a hairdresser, I think I did a pretty good job. Shelby got a lot of compliments on it at school.

Our oven broke

Bailey told me that my oven was on fire and I didn't believe her. Oops! Found out when I went to bake a cake that the element had burned so badly that it was in pieces. Luckily my handyman Aaron found and ordered the replacement part and then installed it 2 days later. It was kind of stressful to not have an oven for 2 days. Glad it's back to work again.

The Cake Shelby Made (Rainbow)

I had to share the pictures of the cake that Shelby made for her friend TyLyn. She did a great job!
