I have picked up a new project and can't seem to get enough of it. When I was pregnant with Bailey, I asked my mother-in-law to teach me how to crochet the edges on baby blankets. I went crazy and made 8 just for Bailey. I then started making them for other people and always have one or two laying around waiting for a new baby.
While purusing Pinterest, shocking I know, I found a crochet project. I am making boot cuffs. They fit over your tights, nylons, jeans etc. and just under the top of your boots, to make it look like you're wearing thick socks, but you're not.
I have made about a dozen pairs so far in various colors. Here is a pair I just finished.
My really good friend at work suggested I try making this cute kid's scarf she saw on Etsy. So, I picked up some yarn at Joann's and tried it out. It took me about an hour to make and it turned out so cute - I just had to share!!!!

Ugggh!!
Bailey: "Mom, are you old yet?"
Me: "Ugggh!"
Me: "Ugggh!"
Yes, that's how my 4 year old decided to wish me a happy birthday on Monday. :-) It would be nice to be 4 again and look forward to getting older. Don't get me wrong, I don't feel old (yet) and I don't think 43 is really all that bad. But, I still don't look forward to having to admit to people that I'm another year older.
My kids were wonderful and made the day very special. (Aaron had to work) Shelby got up at 7:30 am to make baked french toast. It was heavenly with caramelized brown sugar on the bottom of the pan. She made me climb back in bed and pretend I had just woken up so she could serve it in bed. Then the girls climbed in bed with me and we all snuggled while I ate.
We took the kids out for a family dinner at Carrabbas. We were stuffed, but still made room for the yummy dessert Shelby made for me. It's layered with chocolate chip cookies, Reece's peanut butter cups, Oreos and Brownies. We added a little vanilla ice cream and made ourselves sick eating more than we should.

St Thomas - yeah baby!
Cinnamon Bay - St John's
View from the beach at our resort
Our building - we are top floor second unit from the left - beach is to the left
Aaron contemplating his next move
The resort's beach
Magen's Bay
We also had pelicans and boobies dive bombing the tarpon all around us. No snorkeling this time, but we had a good time just snuggling and people watching.
A stingray in a shark nursery
Iguanas are everywhere on the island - this one is at the food court (lots of cats too, to keep the mouse/rat population under control)
Coki Beach
Cinnamon Bay - St John's
The water was pretty choppy all day, but you couldn't really tell while we were swimming around. Only a little whistling in our snorkels.
We had originally planned a half day snorkeling / fishing trip with a local guide, but there was a small watercraft advisory, so we decided not to risk spending a ton of money and getting seasick. St John's was a great alternative.

Most nights, we went down by the pool where people gathered to have Cornhole tournaments. It is kind of like a bean bag toss, but you toss the bags into one hole cut into a board. (board is about 2 ft x 3 ft in size) I guess this game is pretty popular in other places, but it's the first I'd heard of it. It was really fun, so maybe I'll have to try and make one.
It is tempting to go back again in a few years, but we'll need to save our money. Everything was so expensive. For example, we paid $7 for a box of Frosted Mini-wheats. A bag of chips was $4. A sleeve of Oreos was $3. A bunch of grapes, probably close to a pound, was $11. Gas was $4.50 / gallon.
Driving was pretty crazy too. You drive on the left side of the road, but the steering wheel is on the left side of the car, instead of the right like it is in Australia. The island is a former volcano, so all the roads are steep and twist and turn very sharply. There are also no sidewalks, so it's very common to have people walking on the edge of the small two lane road. Aaron did a fabulous job getting us to and fro safely. All that practice in other countries helped. :-)
We are glad to be home, but were very sad to leave the 85 degree weather.
