Who's the big girl??

Bailey had her 2 week check up today. She has gained 9 ounces and now weighs 5 lbs 9 oz, up 7 ounces from her original birth weight. Yay! She also measured 19 inches, so she's growing nicely.

The doctor is very pleased with her progress and says he would have been happy with even 1 ounce weight gain, so he thinks she is doing great. Better than he expected, for sure.

She was a little stinker last night and we both ended up falling asleep on the couch from 1 am to almost 4 am. My neck hurts because I slept with my head bent to one side, sitting up. Bailey didn't let me sleep during the morning either. She was fussy and every time I laid down, she decided she wanted to get back up again. But she let me get an hour nap in the afternoon. And I needed it!!!

I took a few new pictures the other day because she changes so much. She still doesn't fit in her 0 - 3 month clothes, but few people have found preemie items for me to put her in and she looks very cute.

Oops, she's crying. I better snuggle her. Darn!

Bailey's Arrival

Wow! What an ordeal. I thought I'd share the story of Bailey's interesting birth.

I was 35 1/2 weeks along. On Sunday morning (11/9), I noticed that I started cramping a little, but I thought it was BraxtonHicks, because they weren't really strong. By the afternoon, they were getting stronger, but really sporadic and not yet to the point where I thought it was something to worry about. I went to pick Shelby up from Jami and Leslie's house and asked Leslie if she had ever had BraxtonHicks before and to see if they were the same as mine. They seemed to be the same, but she mentioned that if my back started hurting, then that was most likely the real thing. Later that night, my back started hurting. But they were still not enough for me to really worry about.

I remember waking up that night and feeling them still, which isn't normal, but again, I wasn't worried. The next morning, I got dressed and went to work, like normal. When I told my boss, she was pretty concerned and told me I should probably go home and call the doctor. I wasn't going to, until I went to the bathroom and noticed that I was spotting. Then it started to get real. I sat in my boss's office for another hour and timed the contractions. They were about 5-6 minutes apart. I packed up my stuff, called the doctor and drove home.

When I got home, the nurse called and I explained the problem. She was concerned and asked me to drive over to Labor and Delivery at the hospital to have the baby monitored and to check me out. I was dilated to a 3 and 70% e-faced when I got there and the baby's heartbeat was great. After an hour I was still at a 3 so the doctor sent me home and told me to come back when the contractions were 3 min apart.

I worked for an hour more from home and kept timing the contractions. They were about 4 min apart then. I decided to shower and get ready, because I was sure she was coming soon. I asked Aaron to go get pizza for the girls while I finished getting ready. By the time he was back, they were 3 minutes apart. I wasn't going to be sent home again from the hospital, so I waited for another 30 minutes to make sure they were staying at 3 min. They were getting so strong that I was having to do the special labor breathing and I was crying and moaning each time. I decided it was time to go to the hospital when Gretchen started crying because she was so upset about seeing me in pain.

When we got in the car, the contractions were 2 minutes apart and by the time we pulled in front of the hospital, they were 1 minute apart and I thought I was going to die. Aaron left the car in front of the hospital and helped me inside. Right inside the lobby doors there was a pre-natal class going on and a couple was staring at me as I moaned my way to the elevators. (I think I scared the crap out of them!) I also scared an older couple away from taking the same elevator. Hee hee.

By the time I got settled into the delivery room, I was dilated to a 5+. It was 7:00 pm. I was so loud that they convinced the anesthesiologist to come into my room before helping a lady who was having a c-section to deliver twins. Thank heavens for drugs......

Even with the epidural, I could still feel pain in my tail bone and cried with every contraction. Here's a good picture of me during one.

By about 7:40, I was starting to feel the need to push. The nurse checked me and I was dilated to a 10 and she told me not to push. Yeah right! I had to really concentrate on not pushing because it was really strong. Then I started to feel something coming out. The nurse checked and it was the water sack. She went to get the doctor because it was happening despite my not pushing.

The doctor broke my water, and 2 pushes later, little Bailey was born. The doctor called it catapulting. :-) It was 8:05 pm. She was screaming the minute she came out which was a relief and the nurses plopped her on my stomach while they cleaned her up. She was beautiful, even covered in all the gunk.

She weighed 5 lbs 2 oz and was 16 1/2 inches long. They were all calling her a peanut, which we thought was a fitting name.

The doctor said I had a tear in my placenta and that was most likely what caused the bleeding and the labor/delivery.

They did all the tests and she was breathing really well, was keeping her temperature well and her bilirubin scores were really low (so no jaundice). we just needed to get her eating and make sure she could ride home in the car seat. We brought her home on Wednesday, 11/12, after she passed all her tests and she only lost 3 oz in the hospital.

Friday, 11/14, we took her to the doctor and she has gained back another ounce, so she is an even 5 pounds. Yay! I'll attach a few more pictures from this special day.

Grandma Great Harris phone call

Got a call from Grandma Harris on Wednesday night. She was checking to make sure I hadn't had the baby yet. Jason, you're in trouble for not calling her about Lucy! She said she was going to have to count your ribs for that one, so beware.

We talked for a while and got into politics a little. She mentioned that she and grandpa knew Mitt Romney's parents. I guess George Romney was their stake president for a while when my grandparents moved to Michigan. As we talked, we figure out that Mitt is my Aunt Janet's age and that most likely she and my mom attended stake functions with Mitt as youths. I am making a huge assumption, but they could have even danced together at stake dances. Ha ha ha! I thought that was pretty cool and had to share.

I love you grandma!!!

Quick baby update

My last doctor visit was routine. I am measuring only 3 weeks bigger than I should be now. The doctor says the difference between last visit where I measured 5 weeks bigger and this one is probably due to the position of the baby. Either way, I am measuring bigger. Not sure what that means yet, but they don't seem worried, so I'm not going to worry either.

I have gained about 16 pounds total so far. Not bad, though I shouldn't have gained any at all. I am hoping I can keep it under 20, but not holding my breath.

The baby is moving a lot. She spends more time crowding my ribs than the other two did. but I think she has finally stopped swimming around as much. Hopefully that means she is facing the right direction and we won't have to manually move her, or do a c-section.

The coolest thing has happened over the past week. I felt what I think are hiccups! I never felt them before, but I'm pretty sure that's what it was. Shelby was even able to feel them a few days ago when we were sitting on the couch watching TV. She thought that was awesome. (on a side note, Shelby has asked for a baby doll for Christmas this year. Think she's a little excited about having a new baby in the family?)

My next appointment is on Nov 13th, in 6 days. I will be 36 weeks along then and I believe they start checking to see how I am progressing. I'll update as soon as I have more info.

Aaron's big fish

Just wanted to share a picture of Aaron's 27 inch, 9 pound fish he caught on Henry's Lake in Island Park, Idaho. He has been working so hard and long hours lately, that he took a few days off to go up with his dad to fish and close down the cabin for the winter. Aaron says it was cold, but well worth the trip, for this huge monster fish. Sorry you couldn't make it up Phil!!!!

Halloween Pictures

I know it's late, but wanted to post some pictures of the girls at Halloween this year. The first one was taken right before we went Trick or Treating. It was kind of strange year with the warm weather and with it still being light outside. We didn't get as many early treaters as we normally do. So, we didn't let the girls head out until around 6:00, much to their dismay. They both look extremely cute in their costumes, and this is the first year in a long time that I didn't have to do makeup along with their costumes. Both just needed their fresh young faces instead.

The picture below is of the pumpkins the girls carved. I drew the pictures on paper and the girls marked and cut their own pumpkins. I did do the carving of the white eye on Gretchen's, but she cut eveything else out. They both did a great job.

This is another picture of the girls on the front porch. Shelby was being so ornry during this picture. She thinks it funny to put her pom pons right in front of Gretchen's face, so it took 3 or 4 tries to get her to put her arms up where the are.

The weekend before Halloween, we went over to my dad's house for a party. The kids love this and grandpa and grandma Harrison do a great job putting together fun activities for the kids. Plus, it's fun to see all the cousins in their costumes. We roasted hot dogs, searched for Halloween treasures in grandpa's yard, had donut eating contests and read scary stories. Thanks G&G Harrison for doing this every year!

The pictures below are of us at G&G Harrison's house before the party got started. I decided to show off my ever increasing belly, because I dont' have a lot of pregnancy pictures of me, that actually show how big I am. I am about 33 weeks or 7 1/2 months along.

This last one is with all the grandkids, from both sides of the family. What a fun picture!

poke'mon

Ialways write about different things and I've got to say this one is the weirdest.

Poke'mon cards are cool enough to have, but there's 2 little things that aren't cool 1.they say at school that only boys can collect them only 2.they are for little kids. I've been watching my aunt play this online game that's Poke'mon, so next time I see her I'm asking! One little thing for all the people out reading this, do you have 56 Poke'mon I do.

Some are cool, weird, shiny or awesome. I'll show you all of them (all 56 not individual)
