Yummy New Years Sausage Dip

Warning - Very fattening recipe: :-)

A co-worker makes this dip for most of our office parties. It is wonderful in a crockpot and you serve it with tortilla chips. YUMMY!!!

SAUSAGE DIP
3 lbs Jimmy Dean sausage (I season with 2-3 TB cayenne pepper)
3 lbs cream cheese
2 c sour cream
1 can (4 oz) diced Jalapenos (Ortega brand is good)
2 cans (7 oz) diced green chiles
1 large onion (diced)
1 large red bell pepper (diced) (optional)
1 large tomato (diced) or 1 can diced tomatoes (optional)

Brown sausage in a large frying pan (do not drain the grease, this is not a low fat recipe anyway). Add all of the diced ingredients (onion, jalapenos, chiles, bell pepper & tomato) and continue to cook 10-15 minutes longer.

Mix cream cheese, sour cream and sausage mixture in a large pot or crock pot & simmer until well blended. The longer it sits, the hotter it will be, so it’s good to cook it the night before, or cook it on low all night.

just dropped in 'cause your blog was next to mine. Lovely family and the recipes are great. Shame we can't buy a few of the ingredients in Australia.
best wishes,
Olivia

Hi Olivia. Thanks for visiting! My husband will be in Australia in February for work. I was potentially going to join him, but it didn't work out. Maybe in June or July.
